Travel insurance for your trip to Iran

Medical cover that names Iran, accepted when you collect your visa and at the border. Tell us your dates, add everyone travelling, and each traveller’s certificate is emailed to you.

  • Accepted for the Iranian visa
  • Medical cover up to €10,000
  • Up to ten travellers on one policy
  • A certificate for every traveller, by email

Takes about 3 minutes. See every traveller’s price before you pay.

How it works

Everything happens online. Nothing to print, sign or post.

  1. Tell us about the trip

Your arrival and exit dates, once for the whole party. Cover runs between them for everyone on the policy.

  2. Add each traveller

Name, date of birth and passport details for up to ten travellers. Each is priced on their own age and the length of the trip.

  3. Review and pay

Check every traveller’s cover and price, and the total, on one page, then pay by card.

  4. Get your certificates

Each traveller’s certificate is emailed to you once it’s issued, and waits on your tracking link — ready for the visa counter and the border.

Why buy it before you fly

  • A grand mosque under a colourful sunset sky

    Accepted where it’s checked

The certificate names Iran, which is what the embassy, the airport visa counter and the border look for. “Asia” or “worldwide” is not enough.

  • Sand-coloured brick arches

    Skip the airport counter

No queue for a policy after a long flight, and no terms in a language you can’t read. Walk up to the visa counter with your certificate in hand.

  • Stained-glass windows and carpets inside the Nasir al-Mulk Mosque, Shiraz

    Cover from a local insurer

Saman Insurance has hospitals, clinics and assistance across Iran, where many international insurers leave the country out altogether.

  • Persian architecture

    One policy for the party

Up to ten travellers, one payment, and a certificate for each — priced on their own age, with every price shown before you pay.

The policy at a glance

Visitors to Iran must hold medical insurance that names Iran for their whole stay. It is checked when the visa is collected — at an embassy or the airport — and again at the border.

Many international policies exclude Iran because of sanctions, so a local policy is usually the simplest way to be covered: it is written for foreign visitors, covers the whole country, and costs a fraction of an international one that names Iran.

What travellers say

Laure MercierLyon · 14 days, Tehran to Yazd
  • “I got food poisoning in Esfahan and needed a clinic. One call, they found somewhere nearby and settled the bill directly. I never paid anything up front.”

Daniel KochHamburg · 9 days, classic route
  • “We insured four of us on one policy and moved the dates twice when flights changed. No fees, no arguing. That’s rarer than it should be.”

Your Iran travel insurance questions, answered

Yes, almost everybody does. Medical cover that names Iran is checked when you collect your visa at an embassy or the airport, and again at the border. Arrive without it and you will be sent to buy a policy at the airport.

Citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Egypt, Georgia, Iraq, Lebanon, Malaysia, Oman, Syria, Turkey and Venezuela do not have to show insurance to enter, though cover is still worth having in case something goes wrong.
